Every adversity, every failure, every heartache carries with it the seed on an equal or greater benefit. –Napoleon Hill
This quote in many ways relates to both Charlie and his struggles and to the prehistoric people of Georgia. It outlines that people have hardship, no matter who you are. Even so, out of that adversity, good things can happen too. It is important to know this. This is why I have chosen this quote.
Charlie had many hardships in life. He had a mental disability, which makes things harder. He couldn’t learn or comprehend some things and lacked some motor and social skills. It didn’t help that people made fun of his disability. He had an operation that enhanced his brain. During the time the operation worked he contributed to science so that other people with learning disabilities could be cured.
This quote also applies to the prehistoric people of Georgia. They had to hunt their own food and had no electricity. When European settlers came, they had to endure the diseases that they brought over such as measles and smallpox. After a while, the Europeans forced them to go to Oklahoma in something called the trail of tears. Many people died or got sick during the journey. These are just a few adversities that they faced.
